The Independent: Storm & Grace Review
Having a celebrity parent, history suggests, can be a terrible burden to bear – not least since nowadays, the popstar offspring that eschews showbiz in favour of a "proper" job is a rarity. And as celebs go, they don't come much bigger than Elvis, not so much a star as a figure of mythic proportions, his earthly domain preserved in all its kitsch glory like an outsize reliquary of postwar American aspiration.
"So Long" - Bush Hall
The King would be proud!
Lisa Marie Presley performs her first UK gig despite suffering from a cold
She relocated to the English countryside just over two years ago so its no surprise that Lisa Marie Presley was excited about performing her first gig in her adopted home country.
The only daughter of Elvis Presley, who decided to shun the LA lifestyle and make rural East Sussex her home, took to the stage at Bush Hall in Shepherd's Bush on Thursday night, despite being under the weather.
Performing her own tracks and dueting with British singer-songwriter Ed Harcourt, Lisa Marie wowed the audience in her highly anticipated first UK gig.
Bush Hall, review #2
It's Lisa Marie Presley's first ever UK gig and she is battling a cold. But having spent 44 years in the shadow of a rock'n'roll revolutionary and surviving a marriage to the King of Pop, she's not about to let a bit of phlegm get to her.
Her nerves, though, just might. The glamour of her black and satin outfit and perfectly coiffured tumbling tresses can't hide the terror in those so-familiar, kohl-ringed eyes as she starts to sing. Feline and wary, by the closing notes of opener So Long, her relief is palpable.
Bush Hall, review
Lisa-Marie Presley's performance at Bush Hall offered sweet and soulful blues-pop that owed nothing to her father Elvis, writes Thomas H Green.
In the way of background research, I questioned two men in the Bush Hall gentlemen's loos. "Are you here because of Lisa-Marie Presley herself, or because she's Elvis's daughter?"
"She's good as well," replied the first.
